This is an historic house, built in 1914 for W. B. Pickard, superintendent of the old Indian Head Mills in Cordova.
This actual cut was used in printing the 1975 book HISTORIC SITE SURVEY OF BLOUNT, CHILTON, SHELBY, ST. CLAIR AND WALKER COUNTIES, ALABAMA - prepared by the Birmingham Regional Planning Commission. I have shown the 1975 printed version of this cut.
NOTE: THIS IS a printer\'s engraving block - NOT an actual photo and I presently DON\'T HAVE any copies of the book in which it was originally published :-{The cut itself is like a \"screened\" mirror image of what the printed version of the cut will look like.GO ONLY BY THE DIMENSIONS I GAVE IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH FOR SIZE DETERMINATION as the scan may vary from actual size because of rules about photo sizes.Nice item for collectors of Walker County historic memorabilia and architecture and nice item for a letterpress printer in Walker County, Alabama; or, for the present owner of this house.
Bit of age & patina but very good. Keep in mind that halftone cuts - or printer\'s blocks if you insist - will vary widely in how they actually print depending on the quality of the paper and ink used and on the kind of letterpress printing press used to print the layout utilizing said cut.NOTE: the faint, crosshatch Moiré pattern lines you may see in my scans are added BY MY SCANNER - they are NOT ON the original printer\'s cut and will NOT show up when you print this fine print ... [sigh] ... but please read :-)
