Aurelia started life humbly enough as the German freighter ‘Husacaran’ which was seized after the Second World War and awarded to the Canadian Government. It wasn’t until 1958 that she was sold to COGEDAR, an Italian line eager to get its hands on sea-worthy hulls. In an incredible transformation, the utilitarian vessel was completely re-built as ‘Aurelia’, a sleek Liner completed to a standard of elegance that only an Italian line could accomplish. Modern and chic, Aurelia proved popular and served with the line for ten years serving the Immigrant Run to Australia. On top of this, the little Liner completed series of transatlantic voyages under charter by the Council of Student Travel. Having endeared herself to countless passengers, Aurelia was sold to Chandris Lines who converted her to dedicated cruise duties. The ship had an incredible 59 year-long when she was finally wrecked in 1997 after catching fire and partially sinking;
