'GOLDEN KEY' (1964)

On offer here is the 1964 MONTEBELLO HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK for Montebello, California. Featured in this annual are the SENIOR photos for notable actor EDWARD JAMES OLMOS and CALIFORNIA STATE SENATOR ART TORRES.

Olmos is showing as 'Edward H. Olmos' and we believe this is due to either a) a typo ('h' is next to 'j' on a qwerty keyboard) or b) he used his mother's family name 'Huizar' as his middle name. In either case or whatever the reason, this is obviously him.

The yearbook is complete and in good condition.

Edward JamesOlmos (born February 24, 1947) is an American actor, director, producer, andactivist. He is best known for his roles as Lieutenant Martin "Marty"Castillo in Miami Vice (1984–1989), actor in and director of American Me (1992), William Adama in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009), teacher Jaime Escalante in Stand and Deliver (1988), and Detective Gaff in Blade Runner (1982), and its sequel Blade Runner 2049(2017). In 2018, he played the father of two members of an outlaw motorcycleclub in the FX series Mayans MC.

For his work in Miami Vice, Olmos won the 1985 Primetime EmmyAward for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, as well as the GoldenGlobe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film.For his performance in Stand and Deliver, Olmos was nominated for a GoldenGlobe Award and the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

He is also knownfor his roles as patriarch Abraham Quintanilla in the film Selena, narrator ElPachuco in both the stage and film versions of Zoot Suit, and the voice ofChicharrón in Coco.

Over the courseof his career, Olmos has been a pioneer for more diversified roles and imagesof Hispanics in the U.S. media. His notable direction, production, and starringroles for films, made-for-TV movies, and TV shows include Wolfen, Triumph ofthe Spirit, Talent for the Game, American Me, The Burning Season, My Family/MiFamilia, Caught, 12 Angry Men, The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca, Walkout, TheWonderful Ice Cream Suit, American Family, and Dexter.

Arthur A. Torres(born September 24, 1946) is an American former politician who served as amember of the California State Legislature. He is the vice chair of theIndependent Citizens Oversight Committee, the governing Board of the CaliforniaInstitute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM). CIRM, established in 2005 followingthe passage of Proposition 71, is charged with allocating US$3 billion toCalifornia universities and research institutions to support and advance stemcell research. He is a colon cancer survivor and serves on the Board as apatient advocate.

He is also amember of the Board of Regents of the University of California.

Torres served asthe Chairman of the California Democratic Party from 1996 to 2009. He was thefirst Latino in the California Democratic Party to have been nominated forstatewide office when he won the Democratic primary for insurance commissionerin 1994. He is openly gay. He is the father of a son and daughter.
