1958 The Titusville Iron Works Company Oil Engine or Boiler Brass Plate Machinery ID Badge. Dimensions: approx. 8 inches X 6 inches and made of brass. Very good condition--all information fields are deeply stamped and readable.
The Titusville Iron Works, founded in 1860 in Titusville, PA, once manufactured JC gas engines, Olin engines, Tico engines, along with a lot of other oil field equipment. Their slogan was “founded 1 mile away from, and one year after Drakes well”. Notable owners include John J. Carter, who founded Carter Oil which became Exxon. A museum and restaurant are currently located in the restored original plant building.
