1958 Senior Saga-- Theodore Roosevelt High School Yearbook. Approx. 9 inches x 12 inches-- approx. 80 pages.This school was located at 500 E Fordham Road in The Bronx.Many local residents from the Little Italy--Belmont section are featured in these pages. In fact, since Roosevelt was the closest High School--- most teenagers from the Arthur Avenue--East 187th area attended this school.In the middle of one page is a nice illustration--- it shows a Carvel stand and some teen-agers riding a roller coaster.Another illustration on a different page shows sketches of amusement park rides and the words "Playland".In the 1950s-60s there was a small amusement park (Playland) and Carvel Ice Cream located near Roosevelt. It was a popular hang-out spot for teenagers in the Fordham/Belmont area during those years.
There are LOTS of locals (as well as many other Bronxites) among these pictures--- maybe there even are quite a few that you personally know! Includes many student autographs.The book is in very good condition with some wear. The binding is fairly strong and the book is COMPLETE--- no loose pages, no torn pages, etcHere is a fabulous piece for any serious Bronx historian... a nice piece of memorabilia from almost 70 years ago!
