Inscription also gives original homeowner\'s name, Gwendolyn Taylor.
I think the inscription is a little off because this is what BhamWiki has to say about Center Street School: \"West Center Street Elementary School was an elementary school in the Birmingham City Schools system located at 1712 3rd Street Southwest in the Woodland Park neighborhood.The original 7-room school was open to African-American students. It was serving 280 students when it was expanded with 4 new classrooms, a library and a \'cafetorium\' in 1963.\"
So this house would have been located 3 blocks from the school.
