This is one of a number of ephemera - paperwork - documents items from the 16th-20th Century that came from the David Battie collection I am currently selling. David Battie well known for being a specialist of Asian ceramics and often seen on Antiques Roadshow. He collected ephemera, pictorial sheet music and engravings too and over the next few months I will be listing some of his collection so this all has good provenance. Please see the others all with my prefix #DB
This is a vintage lot in relation to the Borough of Whitehaven and the Water Committee dated 1954.
This lot includes:
A programme for the Diamond Jubilee year Celebration following the Official Opening of the Revised Lake Ennerdale Water Scheme
An invitation to the above event made out to a W. L. Teasdale Esq. and the official opening would be by The Right Hon. Harold Macmillan, MP, Minister of Housing and Local Government at the Intake House Lake Ennerdale Friday May 21st 1954.A typed letter with attached information about the Rt. Hon. Hugh Dalton from John Laing.
An interesting social history lot for anyone from Ennerdale, Whitehaven area.
I doubt many of these survive.Please see photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition.There are normal signs of age and use wear including folds and creases etc.
There are some foxing marks and slight discolouration on the surfaces.The staple in the letter has rusted.The invitation measures approx. 14cm x 11.5cm.
