It was issued to an officer of the railroad.The pass measures appx 4 x 2 1/2 inches and is printed on a light-weight cardstock. It is in very good condition, with no rips or tears. All writing/markings are from its issuance and use. Founded in 1859, it stretched from Chicago to Los Angeles, serving the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Competition and the changing climate to create mega-railroads led to the merger of the Santa Fe with the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1983 to form the Santa Fe-Southern Pacific Railroad (SPSF). Not much long after, the Santa Fe-Southern Pacific merged with the Burlington Northern to form the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF), completing the consolidation of three of the nation\'s most storied carriers. For sale is an employee train permit pass from the Santa Fe for the year 1953.
