This scarce card is one in a series of 100 cardsissued in Canada by PARKHURSTPRODUCTS Limited of 11 Wabash AveToronto Ontario. The series is listedon Burdicks American Card Catalogue as series V339-2, and is entitled “Audubon Society Birds” Noguide that I am aware of provide a specific date of issue however have seen thewrapper/box that these card were distributedin and it is of similar construction tothat of the 1951-52 and 1952-53 Parkhurst Hockey Series’ (Thank you Bobby Burrell for bringing this to my attention). The front features a wonderful image of thefeatured species of bird. The back gives a brief description of thespecies, as well as explaining how to acquire an album to hold the cards (if anyone had this album please email meas I would love to see what it looks like).The back also states “Paintings and descriptions courtesy AudubonSociety of Canada as published inCanadian Nature Magazine” Thiscard is #18 in the series and features a BARRED OWL. The Card measures 2 inches by 2 1/2 inches approximately. The card has a blue mark at the top. I am unsure if this is a printing flaw or something added later. The card is free from creases with relatively nice corners.I have scannedthe front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the conditionfor yourself. THESE CARDS WERE NEVERISSUED IN THE U.S.A Due to the lower population in Canadathan in the US, print runs in Canadawere much smaller compared withAmerican Cards. (Because of this the majority of all Canadian non sports cardsare far scarcer than card issued inthe USA. )
