1951 Sheridan High School Yearbook, Bronc, Sheridan, Wyoming.Sheridan is the County Seat of Sheridan County and is located halfway between Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore. Sheridan was named after General Phillip Sheridan, Union Cavalry leader in the American Civil Was. General Sheridan was active in the Indian Wars of the Great Plains during the 1860's and 1870's against the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Shoshone and Crow Indian Tribes in the area around Sheridan. General Sheridan was also instrumental in the development and protection of Yellowstone National Park, both as a soldier and a private citizen.Photos 1 and 2 show the front and back cover of the yearbook. Photo # 3 shows the Title Page. Photo # 4 shows the Table of Contents. Photo # 5 shows the Theme of the Yearbook, which was music. Photo # 6 shows an aerial view of the high school as it was in 1951. Photo # 7 shows a group photo of the Future Farmers of America. Photo # 8 shows Future Farmers Queen Rosemary Corley, who I believe was a Junior this year. Photo # 14 shows an advertisement for Sheridan Flouring Mills, manufacturers of Best Out West Flour and Tomahawk Feeds, with Mrs. Betty Thomas in the center Betty M. Thomas was the Physical Education Teacher at Sheridan High School. Photo # 15 shows Senator Lester Hunt with students Mary Ann Schneider Carolyn Drown. Prior to being a Senator for Wyoming, Lester Hunt was Governor for Wyoming and he came from the City of Lander in Fremont County. Photos 16 and 17 show the Future Homemakers of America. Shelf # 36.
