1951 Sheridan High School Yearbook, Bronc, Sheridan, Wyoming.Sheridan is the County Seat of Sheridan County and is located halfway between Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore. Sheridan was named after General Phillip Sheridan, Union Cavalry leader in the American Civil Was. General Sheridan was active in the Indian Wars of the Great Plains during the 1860's and 1870's against the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Shoshone and Crow Indian Tribes in the area around Sheridan. General Sheridan was also instrumental in the development and protection of Yellowstone National Park, both as a soldier and a private citizen.Photos 1 and 2 show the front and back cover of the yearbook.
