This vintage Japanese tea cup with lid is a unique find from the 1950s. The cup is made of soil clay and porcelain with an unglazed bottom rim and features a beautiful hand painted design of flowers in a pail. The painting is raised texture under glaze so that you can feel its texture as you hold the cup. It has a capacity of 6.0 fl oz and measures 2.56" in diameter and 3.25" tall. There are no chips in this tea cup, however the porcelain clay has the tiny cracked glaze look - that is either by design or by age. I am just not sure as there are so many types of pottery/ceramics/porcelain and clay ware from Japan. Please review the picture details to see the full condition of the teacup. It is in beautiful condition in my opinion because I love history and vintage/antique beautiful things from the past! Thank you for looking at this beautiful piece of Japanese history.

The tea cup is handcrafted and the provenance of ownership history - purchased by my grandparents while they lived and worked in Japan (post war). They brought it home on a ship in 1956 with many Japanese and other items from their travels. It is marked with the artist/maker and is perfect for collectors of Asian culture and teapots/tea sets. Note: California Prop 65 warning is unknown.
