1950 Mission House College and Seminary Yearbook, Plymouth, Wisconsin. Now called Lakeland University traces in beginnings to German immigrants who, seeking a new life traveled to America and settled in the Sheboygan Area of Wisconsin. In 1862 the founders built Missionshaus or Mission House, a combined academy college seminary. The school was called the Mission House College and Seminary until 1956 when it adopted the name, Lakeland College. In 1991 Lakeland University founded a campus located in the heart of Ryogoku in Tokyo, Japan. The center of sumo wrestling in Japan and the World. The Lakeland University Campus is located just minutes from the train station. The Campus finds itself in a serene location surrounded by parks, museums and the Sumida River. The Edo-Tokyo Museum, the Sword Museum, the Earthquake Museum and the Sumida Hokusai Museum. Also nearby is Yokoamicho Park and the Former Yasuda Garden.In 2005it was recognized as an overseas campus, allowing it to sponsor visas for students.
