Up for sale is a 1949 Press Award from the North Carolina Press Association awarded to well known journalist Simmons Fentress for third place for \"Best Spot Reporting: Daily Division\". Fentress went on to become a well known journalist for Time magazine where he covered the civil rights movement, was the bureau chief in Saigon and eventually the correspondent from Washington D.C.
Award is signed by the president and secretary of the Association (R.E. Price and Beatrice Cobb respectively). It measures approximately 12 x 18 inches in a frame. In nice but somewhat worn condition. There appears to be some foxing / staining to the document although it is tough to tell what is on the frame and what is on the actual document. Browning to the document as well. The document is in its original frame and the framedefinitelyhas some spotting / marks on the underside of the glass. Some of these spots also appear to be on the document but,again, which is which is tough to say. There is certainly browning / aging as well. Still,it appears to be in fairly nice shape and has been framed for a very long time. Frame looks like it is from the 50\'s.
