The Fort Dodge, Des Moines & Southern Railroad Company (FDDMS) was an interurban railroad connecting the named cities in Iowa. It was the largest interurban in Iowa and was unique in that it carried a considerable amount of freight traffic. At various times, the FDDMS operated with electricity, diesel and steam power. It traces its roots to 1905. The FDDMS was acquired by the Chicago & North Western Railroad (CNW) in 1968; although much of the original system has been abandoned, the Union Pacific Railroad (successor to the CNW) now operates a small section. For sale is a rare employee pass from the FDDMS for the years 1945-46. The pass, which measures appx 4 x 2 1/2 inches, is printed on mid-weight cardstock. It is in very good condition, with no rips or tears; all writing/markings are from its issuance and use. A great item for the Iowa or interurban rail fan. Shipped in a hard-side plastic collector\'s sleeve. Pictures sell!
