Santa Barbara, one of many new combination passenger-and-freight ships now being built and planned by American steamship owners for service throughout the world. Known as a modified C-2 type, several such vessels will shortly be in service to Latin America. Designed to carry 52 passengers, all in outside staterooms with private baths and intraship automatic telephones, these vessels combine the modern features of a large ship with the intimacy of a small liner. Other innovations include full-view windows, convertible beds, movies \'under the star\' viewed from a verandah cafe, built-in tiled swimming pool and ample deck space for shipboard sports. The modified C-2 is about 460 feet long and cruises at 18-20 knot speeds. Photo measures 10.25 x 8.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1946. PHOTO FRONT
