Published in December 1946, Batman #38 is the thirty-eighth issue of the Batman (Volume 1) series. “”Peril In Greece!” was fully written by Edmond Hamilton.


Interesting Facts

Following the success of the previous issue, Batman #38 successfully closed the year 1946 for the series. The issue was penciled and inked by Jim Mooney. The cover artists for its cover were Dick Sprang and Ira Schnapp.


Story Synopsis

While training in their secret gym, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson started to wonder how the athletes that competed in the first Olympic Games, were able to train themselves. Being chased by curiosity, they ask Professor Carter Nichols to send their consciousness to the past, as back as the 5th Century, where they meet some of the athletes of old Greece. During their visit to the past, Bruce and Dick learn about a conspiracy to weaken Greece and conquer their land. Acting as Batman and Robin, they manage to stop the enemies in the Greece of the past.


Why is this comic book valuable?


Batman #38 is a famous issue for serious Batman fans. The scene in the major motion picture Batman Returns where the Penguin sends real penguins strapped with dynamite after Batman was borrowed directly from this comic.
