1945 Bassick High School Yearbook The Voice Bridgeport CT owned by Fairfax Mason:

Recently acquired from a local estate is this hard cover 1945 World War II era high school yearbook “The Voice” from Bassick High School, Bridgeport Connecticut. This yearbook was owned by Fairfax Mason who was in her junior year. Although she did not sign her name, it comes from a group of yearbooks owned by her and one of the messages in the front endpaper starts with “to Fairfax”. It contains some group photos where she appears. In addition to the yearbook, there is a separate loose card indicating she had Emergency Nursing Training in 1945. Fairfax Mason was a well-known entertainer and the estate where this yearbook was acquired had many items of memorabilia about her. A brief summary from her 2007 obituary: Fairfax Mason, actress, singer, beauty queen, Fairfax lived in New York City. She was a graduate of Sullens College in Virginia with a B.A. in drama. Fairfax was a performer at heart, acting and singing for over 50 years. She appeared in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as the sexpot, Heddi LaRue. She also appeared in several soap operas, such as General Hospital and All My Children, and others. She was in several television shows, such as New York Undercover as a jurist, and was the understudy for the judge. Fairfax appeared as a singer in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the Catskills, and in Cuba before Castros takeover. A former MGM starlet, she was Miss Connecticut in the 1948 Miss American Pageant and was declared Miss Atlantic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for 100 years. Condition: generally good with many handwritten messages and autographs. Some toning on endpapers, at least one page with some foxing, and the binding is a little loose.
