Here is a nice collectable Red Cross General Service Badge from WWII era, this one is from 1941 right before we entered the war. It is a men\'s pin designed to go through the botton hole of a suit jacket lapel. The women\'s pin was the same design except it was larger and had a pin bar clasp on the back. According to a great ARC resource website by Volunteer Historian Shirley Powers, these pins were designed by Malvina Hoffman. They were made to be worn on civilians both paid and volunteer. Although the pin was popular enough, there were some complaints particularly the German-type characteristics of the eagle, among other things, so that this design was dropped after WWII.
