Salesman Samples were a part of America\'s ingenuity...the growing textile industry a symptom of the growing population boom which really wouldn\'t be possible without the machine age which allowed the continued growth of america. These salesman samples were part of the modernism of america when salesman would go door to door with suitcases of these samples to sell to well coiffedhousewives of the period. Today these samples represent new old stock...timeless unused remnants with original labels...a must for the textile archeologist of sorts.
This offering is for ONE unused unwashed salesman sample with 5 sample colorways attached to the backside top of the sample that would be divine each one framed as textile art on a collage wall...see backside of photos for reference. A 1940\'s designer taffeta...very Hollywood Glam with Victoriana and Art Deco bones to it...rarely do you see grapes in these textiles of this ilk and era...not commonplace and I thought perfect for someone who collects wines and wants the perfect pairing. I love the influence of turquoise...purple pink and teal limes....it is exuberant and intoxicating on many levels...you can see the victorian...glam and art deco flavor emanating from the pattern... varied shades of chartreuse...lavender..taupe purples...chocolate...latte...this wonderful dark creamy blue charcoal in the grapes...with dark chocolate and white accents. There is an original tag still attached. Expect unused original old stock in a fantastic design. Flawless.
