Description

The Fort Worth & Denver City Railway Company (FWD) was a Texas shortline railroad that ran from Fort Worth through Wichita Falls, Childress, Amarillo and Dalhart to Texline, where it connected with the Colorado & Southern Railway (C&S), controlled by the Burlington Railroad. It operated from 1881-1982, when it was acquired by the Burlington. Its surviving trackage is now owned and operated by the BNSF.

The Wichita Valley Railway (WVR), another Texas shortline, was chartered in 1890 to build from Wichita Falls to the Texas state line in Bailey County. The C&S also got control of this railroad in 1905, and it gradually came under the control of first, the Burlington, and then, the BNSF. Surviving trackage is also part of the BNSF.

For sale is an employee pass from the FWD  and WVR for the year 1922. It was issued to an officer of the Wichita Falls Railway. The pass, which measures appx 4 x 2 1/2 inches, is printed on light-weight cardstock. It is in very good condition, with no rips or tears; all writing/markings are from its issuance and use.

A nice item for the Texas railfan or collectors of items from BNSF predecessor lines.
