Here's a beautiful, working Motorola 6T table radio. It was built in Chicago IL in 1937. The radio tunes local AM broadcasts when connected to a longwire outdoor antenna (at least 100 feet long and 20 feet above the ground), but like many highly stylized wood radios made in the 30's, its appeal today has little do with its performance; it's all about the cabinet. Professionally restored, with judicious use of toners and grain fillers, the wood's piano gloss finish makes the radio look drop dead gorgeous from any angle.
In the video posted above, I'm using a tiny Bluetooth transceiver hidden inside the cabinet. The transceiver is included, and it does NOT require that the radio be connected to a longwire outdoor antenna. The transceiver allows you to stream music from your smartphone directly to the radio when the radio is tuned at approximately 1000 kHz. It will also work almost any other early AC radio you have in your house, so if you're tired of listening to news or talk radio all day long, you can bring new life back to your old receivers.
The dial light is working and, like the Stewart Warner Magic Dial radios from the same era, the radio's entire dial changes out when you switch bands. Very cool indeed.
Please note: when the radio is tuning AM broadcasts without the bluetooth transceiver, using just a longwire antenna, the reception is obviously neither as crisp nor as free of static as it is when music is being streamed to it from a location in the same house.
