Embossed cardsissued in German Sultan Cigarettes package: Cards are from Luxusbild seriesno 92, 93. Cards measures approx. 2 1/16\" x 2 7/16\" (51mm x62mm). Each card is in full color, embossed with an individual pattern. Cardsare in new condition (look scan). No mount damage on back, no creases and veryclean. Back with text written in German.
About Simonne Élise Dinet,known as Monette Dinay, was a French actress, born September 20, 1906 inPetit-Quevilly (Seine-Maritime) and died November 19, 1986 at the age of 80 inPradet in the Var on the Cote d\'Azur (France).She made her first film in 1930in Le Blanc et le Noir directed byRobert Florey and played the character of Josephine. Thereafter, and until1940, she will shoot in more than forty feature films.

About Pola Negri (born Apolonia Chalupec 3 January 1897 – 1August 1987) was a Polish stage and film actress and singer. She achievedworldwide fame during the silent and golden eras of Hollywood and European filmfor her tragedienne and femme fatale roles and was acknowledged as a sexsymbol. Raised in the Congress Kingdom of Poland, Negri\'s childhood was markedby several personal hardships: After her father was sent to Siberia, she wasraised by her single mother in poverty, and suffered tuberculosis as ateenager. Negri recovered, and went on to study ballet and acting in Warsaw,becoming a well-known stage actress there. In 1917, she relocated to Germany,where she began appearing in silent films for the Berlin-based UFA studio. Herfilm performances for UFA came to the attention of Hollywood executives atParamount Pictures, who offered her a film contract. Negri signed withParamount in 1922, making her the first European actress in history to becontracted in Hollywood. She spent much of the 1920s working in the UnitedStates appearing in numerous films for Paramount, establishing herself as oneof the most popular actresses in American silent film. In the 1930s, during theemergence of sound film, Negri returned to Europe, where she appeared inmultiple films for Pathé Films and UFA, and also began a career as a recordingartist. She made only two films after 1940, her last screen credit being inWalt Disney\'s The Moon-Spinners (1964). Negri spent her later life largelyoutside the public sphere. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1951, andspent the remainder of her life living in San Antonio, Texas, where she died ofpneumonia secondary to a brain tumor for which she refused treatment, in 1987,aged 90.
