This incredible, historic old railroad train sign was a name plate used on the Hiawathas, a fleet of passenger trains operated by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (also known as the Milwaukee Road) between Chicago and various destinations in the Midwest and Western US.
The Hiawatha trains were in service from 1935 to 1948. Today, the name Hiawatha Service is still used for Amtrak trains operating between Chicago and Milwaukee.
This sign is made of heavy cast aluminum. it is 100% all original. I have not even attempted to clean it. See the close-up photos for detail.
Size is 16 inches long by 4 1/2 inches high, and it is a full quarter of an inch thick.
