Up for SALE here is a VERY RARE 1926 Homestake Gold Mining Company Stock Certificate 11 inch X 7 inch. This One HundredShare Stock Certificate had a Par Value of $100 for each Share. Included on the reverse of this Stock Certificate canceled are 2c and 10c New York Transfer Tax Stamps. This 1926 Homestake Mining Company Stock Certificate is a great reminder of the past of the largest Gold Mine in North America. The Homestake Gold Mining Company in Lead, SD was founded by George Hearst in 1877 (Who was elected in CA to the U.S. Senate in the same year), became Public on the New York Stock Exchange in 1879 and closed their Gold Mine, which went down over 8000 feet on 12/14/2001 after producing almost 44,000,000 ouncesof gold in its lifetime. The Hometake Mining Company is the longest running stock ever on the NYSE. 👀The President of Homestake Mining Company, who hand signed this Capital Stock Edward Clark was acousin ofPhoebe Appersonwhose husband,George Hearst hadbecome a multi-millionaire in California and at the age of twenty. Edward wentout west in 1886 and joined him. George Hearst died five years later in 1891, leaving his wifeas his sole heir. Phoebe then entrusted Edward Clark - who was the same age as heronly son,William Randolph Hearst- to manage her late husband\'s vastbusiness interests and acted as her financial advisor until her death in 1919.
