Very pretty Display Tile that Looks Hand painted to me, It has a nice water/ marine landscape with boats. I plan to frame this some day if it doesn\'t sell for Christmas, but then I\'ve had it in the china cabinet for a while with those plans,... LOL.
The Back stamp says 23 Made in Japan and has a \"FM flanked by what looks like two sharks kissing\" but found the following on the internet:
\"The classic Fujimiyaki Tile Works backstamp includes the letters \"FM\" surrounded by two \"Tiger-Fish\" facing downward toward each other. This was their way of saying the tile was made in Japan, while continuing to honor Japan\'s centuries old culture. Today the Fujimiyaki tile backstamp still utilizes the two \"Tiger-Fish\" looking downward encircling the letters \"FM\". .... Fujimiyaki Tile Works has been crafting stunning tiles in Japan for more than 15 generations and is still doing so today. They came to prominence during the last years of the 19th century and the first part of the 20th century. It was during this time that Japan developed its own Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements.\"...\"Additionally, import Act of 1921.... From roughly about 1890 through 1921, most imported goods should have had the county of origin marked somewhere on the piece, but not necessarily in English.
