The Fort Dearborn Banks, consisting of the Ft. Dearborn National Bank and the Fort Dearborn and Savings Bank, were discovered to be in bad condition and it was necessary in order to prevent a panic and possibly a run on every bank in Chicago to take some hasty and drastic action. After conferences extending over Sunday and Monday in which almost every banker and financial man in Chicago took part, the affairs of the two banks were financially turned over to the Continental Commercial National Bank and Continental and Commercial Trust and Savings Bank. At this hour, noon Tuesday, quite a crowd of depositors have surrounded the Fort Dearborn Banks and quite a heavy withdrawal of money is taking place in the Continental and Commercial.
