This colorful card is one in a seriesof 48cards issued by theEDDYS STEAM BAKERY COMPANY. One wasinserted into each package of their brands ofSunshine and old Home Bread. Theseries is designated as series D27in Burdick’s American CardCatalogue and is entitled “ Dotty,Bob and Trix” Burdick does not providea date for this series but I believe it to have been issuedin the late 1920’s or early 1930’s. Each card features an image of theCharacters riding different Animals in different parts of the world. The back provides information about theseries and advertising for the bread. The Card was also meant to be cut out touse as a stand up toy (as instructed on the card itself. I imagine that most kids would have done thisadding to the scarcity of intact cards.The Lithography was done by the Brawner-Waggaman Co of Washington D.C.This card is entitled THE ARTICS . The Cardmeasures 6 1/8 inches by3 3/8 inches approximately . The card does have some light corner wearand some spots of discoloration. Other than that the card is free from creasesand is completely intact and un-cut. I have scannedthe front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the conditionfor yourself. I will be trying to list several EARLY TRADE & TYPE CARDS over the next few days(spread across different categories),including one or two that are unrecorded in any guide, that were put given away with Tobacco, Cigarettes , Caramel, Candy, Gum, Chocolate, Bread Coffee Tea Cereal and other products, covering such diverse subjects as Native American Indians , Baseball , Football, Boy Scouts, Ice Hockey, Golf, Presidents of the United States, NCAA and IVY League Colleges and Universities, Dog Breeds,Circus themes and many more.
