This RARE card isone in a series of 24 cards issued in Canada bythe Patterson Candy Company Limitedof Toronto Ontario Canada. One wasinserted into each package of theirPatterson’s Chocolate. They are listed as V78 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue, theyare entitled “FOREIGN BUTTERFLIES ”.Although no guide that I am aware ofgives a definite date of issue for this series it is generally assumed to have been in the 1920’s era. Thefront of each card features a colorful image of the featured species. The back of the card features the ButterfliesName and were it is located, and hasa premium offer for an Album to hold the cards in from the Company. The back is in both theFrench and English Language. This Card is number 23in the series. TheCard measures 3 ¾ inches by 1 1/2 inches approximately. The card does have a corner crease. I have scanned the front and back of the cardfairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself . THESECARDS WERE NEVER ISSUED IN THE U.S. or UK Dueto the lower population in Canada than in the USA and UK, print runs in Canada were much smaller compared with American and British Cards. (Because ofthis the majority of all Canadian non sports cards are far scarcer than cardsissued in the USA and UK)
