This is an original press photo. Belgium\'s First Ambassador To The United States: Baron Emil de Cartier de Marchienne who is now on his way to Washington as the first ambassador from Belgium to this country. Since February 1917 Baron Marchienne has been minister to Washington, but recently the rank was raised to Ambassador. He was a member of the Supreme Economic Council of the Peace Conference and was charged with the study of a plan for the liquidation of the world\'s food supply. He also represented Belgium on the inter-allied commission on reparations. The Baroness Marchienne is an American woman, formerly Mrs. Hamilton Cary of New York City. They were married in Paris in 1916Photo measures 7.75 x 9.5inches. Photo is dated 09-06-1919.
