Mikhail MORDKIN &AlexandraBALASHOVA. Concert number \"Sailor Dance\"
Alexandra Balashova was born on 3rd May 1887 in Moscow, Russia and died on 5th January 1979 in Paris, France.She trained at the Bolshoi Theater Ballet School and was a principal dancer at the Bolshoi Theater from 1905.
Mikhail Mordkin was born on 9th Dec 1880 in Moscow, Russia and died on 15th July 1944 in Millbrook, New York, USA.He graduated from the Bolshoi Ballet School in 1899 and in 1909 joined Diaghilev\'s ballet as a leading dancer.
In 1911 he formed his own company, the All Star Imperial Russian Ballet, which toured America.
Having returned to the Bolshoi and appointed its director he left Russia after the October Revolution finally settled in USA in 1924 and founded the Mordkin Ballet in 1926.
