Born in St. Petersburg, graduated from the St. Petersburg Theater School (1906).In 1906-1920 worked at the Mariinsky Theater.Elena Smirnova participated in the first Russian season in Paris (1909).In 1920, Elena Smirnova emigrated from Soviet Russia.From 1922 to 1926, Elena Smirnova worked at the Russian Romantic Theater in Berlin.Since 1928, Elena Smirnova lived in Argentina, in Buenos Aires. She was engaged in teaching activities. Elena Smirnova died in Buenos Aires.
