This is a beautiful rare vintage Swayback Stag knife made by WASHINGTON CUTLERY back between 1898 and 1902 only (PER GOINS). It measures 3 9/16 inches in the closed position. Both blades are tang stamped Washington Cutlery Co., according to reference books this stamping was used from 1898 to 1902 only. The main blade has a 1\"swedge or false edge and a long nail pull on the top spine, and you can see some stamped letters etched across the main blade, but I cannot make it all out. Both blades have excellent snap opening and closing with a strong half stops and both blades have snap like a big Bear Trap! Both blades also sit in the right position opened and closed with no play, tight and right! It has steel pins and steel liners. It has nice front and rear heavy crimped and chamfered iron bolsters. This knife has Gorgeous vintage stag handles with no cracks or chips, all tight and right! The back handle is a little thin at one bolster but is all original. This is a very nice old Stag handled 120 plus year old keeper!
