One of a number of late 19thC sale posters I am selling related to Whitby and the surrounding area. Relating to upcoming live sales of local land, dwellings and Steamship shares and other interesting adverts. Very interesting if you are into such items as they may well have printed a lot of them but not many will survive as they would have become the \" open fire lighters \" within days of the sales being held. Great for local social history groups or for anyone related to the named people on the posters.
This poster is advertising the sale of Steamship Shares from the late Captain Francis Nesfield and Francis John Swatman Esq. by Charles Harrison.This was to be held at the Crown Hotel in Whitby on Wednesday 23rd September 1896.
The shares do vary of the steamships and the info includes who manages the ships and the ships names include SS FALSHAW - SS MUTUAL - SS MILLFIELD - SS ETHELWALDA - SS EASTGATE - SS WESTGATE - SS ETHELGONDA.Printed by Horne & Son, Whitby.
In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear.
The poster has been folded and does have tears on the creases. It will need tape put on the back if you want to display it.
