This is a souvenir spoon from the Cotton States and International Exposition, a World's Fair held in Atlanta in 1895. The bowl of a sugar spoon has been acid etched "1895 Atlanta Exposition". This may be one of a kind, etched on site. The sugar spoon is a Holmes & Edwards pattern in an aluminum-copper alloy patented by Dr. Leonard Waldo in 1894. The mark reverse is "(Griffin's Head) Waldo HE". Waldo was known to pass out souvenir spoons in his patented alloy at meetings of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers. He may have prepared some for the Atlanta exposition as well. I see lots of Atlanta expo spoons in sterling silver. This Waldo version is much rarer and necessary to complete a collection.

Significant flaws not depicted in the photos are describedhere-with, minor flaws and normal wear are not. Unless the item is described asnew, assume there will be minor flaws or wear commensurate with a used item ofgiven age.
