This is part of a large collection of Great Lakes shipping china and silver I purchased several years ago. The elderly owner and his grandfather had collected silver and china for several decades. The grandfather did some sort of plumbing / pipe fitting sort of work on boats and would barter for pieces. Many of the pieces are mementos of family trips.

Some of the pieces are obvious house flag sort of markings, some are vague initials or names. Some of the pieces had little notes written on them or were stuffed in manila sort of envelopes with notes on them or postcards, matchbooks and other pieces put together, but it\'s been kind of chaotic to go through.

This piece was in a very moldy envelope with several totally illegible postcards stuck together and another teaspoon from the Steamer Albany. The front of the envelope had a handwritten note:

\" Pa and ant Meg took the Adirondack overnight one of the summers he worked on the Hudson and he said it was the finest he ever had the pleasure to board, and he rode them all!. He did some work on the Albany that year and said he had a box of dishes but the spoon was all I found.\"

Piece measures 5&7/8ths inches long.

Piece is in very good to excellent condition. Monogram shows a very slight amount of wear, fully pronounced and legible. Tines are a little bent. Back of tines shows a very slight amount of wear, but I think a good polishing will remove most of this. There are some slight nicks and scratches from stacking and storage with other flatware otherwise piece is in excellent condition.

Piece will need to be thoroughly polished when buyer receives it.
