This is an original antique. It was printed in 1893 by the famous Matthews-Northrop Company of New York. Joseph Richardson of the Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and Indian River Railway (which became the Florida East Coast Railway Company in 1895) commissioned its writing and printing. It is an extensive promotional booklet used by to promote land sales and spur growth of towns along the east coast of Florida. Henry Morrison Flagler was also involved in its promotion and deeply involved in the growth of Florida. The booklet includes glowing narratives about the beauty of Florida as it guides the railway passenger to each new destination. It includes unique and very early pictures of hotels and landscape of the area.
It is listed in the LIBRARY OF CONGRESS under Americana Collections, Class F316, Book .J14, Identifier 00144990225.
It is 8.5 inches by 6 inches.The cover and several pages within are loose from the bound pages, but not all are lose.There is a tape mark left on cover on both sides.The cover shows a few smudges.The overall booklet shows normal aging for its 131 year old age.Overall, it is clear, readable and very intact.
