Battle at Port Hudson, Copyright 1887, L. Prang & Co., American Lithographic Co., J. Davidson (not sure about the J.) was the artist. Below is a short description of the Battle. I have taken photographs of the details which are at the bottom of the print, my camera is not great on closeup photographs of small print. The copyright date and L. Prang & Co. addition is small and at bottom center. Print measures 23 1/2-inches x 17-inches. Buyer pays $20.00 shipping.

From May 21 to July 9, 1863, Union GeneralNathaniel P. Banksbesieged Major GeneralFranklin Gardner'ssmall command at Port Hudson, one of the last strongholds on the Mississippi River. When Confederate forces surrendered the garrison on July 9th, the entire Mississippi River was under Federal control, and the Confederacy was cut in two.

How It Ended

Union Victory. After holding out for 48-days, Garrison commander Franklin Gardner was informed that the vital city of Vicksburg fell on July 9th. After learning that no reinforcements were coming to rescue his men, Gardner decided to surrender.
