On offer here is an ORIGINAL CARLO NAYA PHOTO OF THE VENETIAN REGATTA FROM SEPTEMBER 1881.The 11 X 14 in photo is in very good condition as shown. On the reverse is another photo of an unknown area presumably in Italy. On the first Sunday of September theHistorical Regatta ("Regata Storica")takes place, a competition between Venetian boats watched by thousands ofpeople from the banks or from floating stands. Competitions are preceded by a historicalprocession ("Corteo Storico") remembering the entrance of the Queenof Cyprus Catherine Cornaro after abdication in 1489: gondoliers in costumessail in typical 16th century boats following the Bucentaur, Doge's state galley.
