Surf Bathing at Manhattan Beach Next to Coney Island Tourist Promotional Booklet. Not dated, but circa 1878 because of a dated 1878 testimonial letter printed in the booklet. Four pages of text plus a map of the "New York & Manhattan Beach Railroad" and a "Table Showing High Water at Manhattan Beach June - September". Beautiful and detailed color lithographic engraved covers of swimmers enjoying the beach by Donaldson Brothers of Five Points, New York. Booklet measures 3 1/4" x 5 1/2". Discusses the completion and opening of the Manhattan Beach Hotel on July 19, 1877 with 400 rooms exclusively for women and 800 rooms for men. Complete with running water and gas lighting. And some salt water baths. Also a new amphitheater with seating capacity of 3500 people!
