A fine photograph album of the Thames between Oxford and Richmond. Oblong folio. 12 1/2 inches x 9 1/4 inches. Bound in green original boards, ruled and decorated in blind, with gilt titles to the upper cover. The album opens and closes with a free endpaper, followed by 20 mounted albumen print views, each titled in ink and surrounded by a decorative border. Blindstamp of Marsh Bros. Henley On Thames to most photographs. From a similar book that sold in England we learn, \"borders designed & drawn by WW 1875\".

As well as serving the community by producing carte de viste portraits for local families, they were famous for the production of elaborate photograph albums of Thames Scenery, such as the present example. These contained a varying number of views, and were sometimes finely bound with hand-decorated borders to the photographs, as here.

They are now rarely encountered. There is one example on the River And Rowing Museum, also containing 20 photographs, and similarly decorated.
