Related to Isabella Morton Shand, this was sent to Miss E Shand, I believe her daughter Elizabeth Gilmour Shand (or Eliza in the abbreviated form).The address was the place of death for Isabella five years earlier and the \"Misses Shand\" continued to live their through the 1860s. He also mentions Miss Isabella, this is the youngest sister, named after her mother.
Isabella from my working-outs was the Great-Great-Great-Grandmother of Queen Camilla, so a Great-Great Aunt as Eliza would have been sister of Hugh Morton Shand.
From Mr George Christie (I believe George Fyffe Christie) of 62 George Square Glasgow in 1864. Also of the address I believe was Andrew Christie, both writers, the term for solicitors.Possibly the grandfather of Fyffe William George Christie?He informs Eliza that he has just returned from one of his County Rent Courts to find a letter and small book that she would appear to have written for him. He assures her amongst much flattery that he will lodge it with the family papers, so I presume it was regarding the Christie family history. He goes on over the four sides of the single sheet letter to give a wealth of local news, with surnames mentioned of (Thomas) Ogilvie, (Andrew) Buchanon, David, Donninghouse & Nesbitt. Some news on the Railway Station which he suggests the architecture of better than anything in London.
Where I have provided no additional information on the item it is because I can find no identifying features to suggest where it has come from or what was the original format.
