Stereoview photograph of a man on a railroad bridgeover a river near Minneapolis, Minnesota, by Benjamin F. Upton, circa 1860s to 1870s.The view, from the series Upton’s Minnesota and Northwestern Views, is notidentified in the printed list on the back. It shows a man standing on a longbridge spanning a wide river. I suspect this is the Mississippi River nearMinneapolis and believe the bridge is a wood Howe through truss bridge. Is thisthe Nicollet Island railroad bridge? The stereoview is in good or bettercondition with light wear and soiling. Note the rubbing and bumping at thecorners of the card. The photographs exhibit good or better tonal range andshow good to very good detail. A nice early MN railroad bridge image!
