1852 Letter From London To Columbus, Burlington County, NJ - Pittsburgh Postmark:

Letter dated April 5th, 1852 from 15 Threadneedle Street, London, to Columbus, Burlington County, New Jersey, accompanied by a July 4th postmark from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Fully opened letter measures approximately 13-1/8” x 16-1/2”.
In fair condition, with some ears and losses around edges and corners. Two horizontal folds to paper, with one piece of paper torn along the upper fold. Small burn hole to paper, along with red wax seal remnants. General age-related toning to paper. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing.
A letter sent from 15 Threadneedle Street, London, under the address of Lemann’s, which had been a baker operating out of the building since at least the 1820s. This piece is additionally unique by its strange appearance at a post office in Pittsburgh, which would be expected to be well off its intended route, unless the letter arrived through British Canada.
