1850-1870 PAIR OF STONE WHEEL-CUT FLORAL MOTIF DECORATED ARGAND COAL OIL 2 3/16\" FITTER SHADES 1850-1870\'s Pair of floral motif decorated argand coal oil pre-kerosene shades.Lovely tulip form shades, stone wheel-cut decorated with swirling vines, and stylized floral patterns; the tops flaring wide with deep cutovals, all on a stone-wheel cut frosted body. Lovely early shades from a famous Ohio collection where they were held safe from harm for decades.Please reference Gowitt\'s \'19th Century Elegant Lighting Argand, Sinumbra and Solar Lamps\' for examples of similar fine early shades. Deep wheel-cut designs, 2 3/16\" lipped fitters, each approximately 6 1/2\" tall, and 4 1/4\" wide. One shade has a 1/2\" very shallow oval clamshell flake at the outside of the top flaring rim, both 180 year old shades have very minor small flakes at the top rim edges. Please note photos.
