STATE OF GEORGIA LAND GRANT IN BURKE COUNTY [CHEROKEE COUNTY] WITH PAPER-COVERED WAX SEAL OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA ATTACHED BY RIBBON. Two sheets joined at folded bottom edge with ribbon attaching wax seal/ Plat of surveyed land printed and written on one side only with land grant printed both sides. Grant of 160 acres to Jesse Skinner for Lot 37, District 11, 3rd Section situated in the Sixth District of the Third Section in Cherokee County known and distinguished in the plan of said District by the number 37 surveyed by Thomas J. Hayes on 30th May, 1832, issued from the Office of the Secretary of State, 9th Sept 1843. Registered in Book Cherokee 11 Dist, 3 Section, Page 231. Signed by JWC Sanford , C.J. McDonald Governor, H.J. Nealy Secretary of State x2, G. Park, Comptroller General, B. B. Smith, Treasurer, R. Micklejohn, S.E.D. and Jesse Skinner. “To all to whom these presents shall come—Greeting: KNOW YE, That in pursuance of th several Acts of the General Assembly of this State, passed the 21st of December 1830, and of the 22nd December 1831, to authorize the survey and disposition of the Lands with the limits of Georgia in the occupancy of the Cherokee Tribe of Indians, and all other unlocated Lands, with the limits of said State, claimed as Creek Lands, and forming the county of Cherokee, I have given and granted, and by these presents, do give and grant unto Jess Skinner….”.
