House of Representatives. Twentieth Congress, Second Session. 1828. Doc. No. 18. Stephen Hook's Statement and Oath. Hook was Master of the Schooner Sally, of Newburyport, Massachusetts. This is his statement on the apprehension of Charles Merchant and Wenslow Curtis for murder and piracy and his actions afterward to get them to jail in Boston and bind them over for trial. He is hoping to get renumeration for his expenses in doing so as well as six months he could not take his ship to sea because he was waiting for the trial. The back of the page includes a statement from the residents of Louisburg, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where the apprehension of the pirates took place. G-VG condition with some wrinkles, a little pencil writing on first page, rough at left edge, where this was disbound. Small edge tear at left edge. I use a poor/fair/good/very good/excellent/mint grading system and grade very conservatively (see my response). This does NOT necessarily correspond to the generic grading system that we are forced to use. Shipping is $2.95 in the U.S.
