This very old document had been previously restored and is somewhat tattered and in several pieces, but would be perfect framed and belongs in the home of someone who can appreciate it.
The deed reads as follows:
\"Known All Men By There PresentsThat I Newcomb Bates of Cohasset in the County of Norfolk, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Esquire
in Consideration of Twenty Four Hundred Dollars to me paid by David Tower of Cohasset aforesaid tousee.
the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowlege, have remised, released, and forever quit-claimed, and do, for myself and my Heirs, by these Presents, remise, release, and forever quit-claim unto the said David Tower his Heirs and Assigns Four acors of Land more or less with the buildings thereforecalled the Bachee? Place situated in said Cohasset. Also one other piece of land situated in said Cohasset upon James run or river so called including ten works of meandering one half an acre more or less. Also fourteen acres of Beach Island so called lying in common and undivided with land of Nichols Tower.Also one other piece of land near Cuba Dares recalled containing twelve acres more or less. Also thirteen acres two quarters of thirteen rods of wood land situated at the Southwest end end of the nice lot so called Also Four acres three quarters and six acres of wood land in the burned swamp so called, The above granted premises being the same which conveyed to me by said David Power by the Beach same as the day of Seagrass? and transcends Right founded twenty six Recorded with Norfolk deed Book 79 - page 295 referring the the Bounds of each cubic more fully appears Hereby intending to convey to said Tower all that was conveyed to me by the aforesaid deed.
To Have and to Hold the afore-mentioned Premises, with all the Privileges and Appurtenances hereunto belonging, to him the said David Tower his Heirs and Assigns forever; so that neither I the said Newcomb Bates nor my Heirs, or any other Person or Persons claiming from or under some or them, or in the Name, Right or Stead of me or them, shall or will, by any Way or means, have, claim, or demand any Right or Title to the aforesaid Premises, or their Appurtenances, or to any Part or Parcel thereof, forever.
In Witness Whereof, I the said Newcomb Bates and Lydia Wife of the said Newcomb in to him or her relinquishments of power in the premises have hereunto set our Hands and Seals this 9th day of September in the Year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven.
