\"De Bruyn Fives Lille\" or the \"Majolica of Fives-Lille\" - The faïencerie of Fives-Lille opened its doors in 1864, headed by Mr Antoine Gustave DE BRUYN. The end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th they produced colourful barbotine carafes. These carafes represented personages, popular stories, and floral styles. The faïencerie employed around 400 workers during this period. The First World War and the death of Antoine Gustave De Bruyn resulted in a decline of the factory in 1916. It regained a short lived popularity again in 1925. The enterprise was sold after the Second World War and closed its doors definitively in 1962.
