17th/18th Century Church Tabernacle Door with Eucharist Chalice hancarve from wood with gold leaf and gesso gilding.Late 17th century /early 18th century church tabernacle door parcel gilt carved in high relief with Eucharist chalice.Rare antique French wooden altar tabernacle door, handcarved with a design of a chalice with a cross on top.Dates 1800s.From our personal collection,we purchased in one antique fair in North France.All original and authentic!!!It was once part of the church tabernacle in which the chalice was kept.The wooden door has a raised hand carved design of a chalice with a cross on top.Absolutely stunning!!! Think of the hours of work on this piece of religious art.There are round studs nails on the back of the door The hinges are on the right side of the door.Still has original lock,no key,the key is missing, nothing serious, this does not detract from the beauty of this rare and lovely burgundy silk at the back with gold trimming,whitch needs to be nailed back.Gesso and gold leaf has chipping,it shows the age and character,patina of the item.A great religious find, makes a perfect devotional gift.Would look great hung on the wall or in a religious curiosity cabinet.Its got hook at the back.Much prettier in reality than on the pictures.Sizing 21.5cmx39cm.
