V. Metcalfe sends this by hand delivery of Joel Adams who travels six days to wait to get $15 from William Watts in Campbell County. Edgewear and roughly opened at the sealing wax.

Content as follows:

\"Feby 4, 1797 Dr. Sir, The bearer Mr. Adams waits on you & from your long silence respecting the belief I was to have had of you & supposed you to have found other market for it, as you mentioned delivering it in last month from yours and not doing so I supplied you with what I shall want, from an Expectation that you had other was disposed of it--the balance in your hands. I will esteem a favor to pay to Mr. Adams who is not owing me & I will call on you for it, Your compliance will Oblige. V. Metcalfe\"

On the reverse:

Feby the 10th 1797, Recv\'d of William Watts by virtue of the within order, fif-teen dollars for V. Metcalf, Joel Adams (Signed).

This item was found in the 1770s-1790s William Watts papers of Prince William County Virginia.
